If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change

I

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have all been confronted with a lot of negativity. However, even apart from Corona, the last 2 years have been full of tough challenges, both mental and physical. Personally, I lost loved ones during this time, and was diagnosed with severe health issues myself.

There are moments in our lives when we see no way out. My method to deal with such situations is to be aware that changing my perspective changes everything. I don’t have an answer for everything, but I look for possibilities in every challenge. I don’t see stop signs, I see detour signs. I believe that I can achieve my dreams and I find ways to get there.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, I still managed to visit 7 new countries and meet a lot of wonderful people all over Europe. I still managed to reach the B2 level in my 5th language and shift the center of my life to Stockholm. I still managed to finish my motivational speech and have my premiere as a speaker in 2 languages.

There is not just one shared reality, its perception varies from one person to another. In identical circumstances, some see adversity and obstacles, others see opportunities and solutions. The one thing that separates those who thrive during times of chaos and uncertainty and those that don’t, is perspective. If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.

If we can focus ourselves on being able to see the positive no matter what, to tear the wrapping paper off and search for the gift in the adversity, then we all can live a life that’s full of triumphant examples rather than cautionary tales. So when something in life goes wrong, just call it “plot twist” and move on. If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.

And quit trying, just do it. You either do something or you don’t. “Trying” is really the same as not doing it, it just makes it easier for us to quit when we fail. But if we never quit, we’ll never fail. If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.

You decide what you become. You design your reality. Dream » Believe » Achieve.

Art Balsam

Polyglot and traveler Art Balsam has changed his life almost completely in the last few years. From fat to fit, from hoarder to minimalist, from office slave to digital nomad, from just comfortable to actually being happy. In 2017 he made a list of 15 languages he wanted to speak while living in each of the corresponding countries. Since then he has reduced his entire life's possessions to the size of hand luggage and traveled to over 20 countries. He is currently living mainly in Madrid and already learning his fifth language. Since Art's story inspired many people around him, he now wants to take on the next challenge. As a motivational speaker he is offering a bigger stage for something that has grown from a craziness through a fascination to a way of life.
